LASER THERAPY
The term LASER is an abbreviation for “Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation.” Low level lasers are low energy lasers. Unlike the known medical power lasers, they are not used for surgical purposes, but exclusively for healing purposes. For this reason, they are also referred to as biostimulation lasers, or healing lasers. One could define therapy with lasers as a form of intensive light therapy, which uses directed light of a defined wavelength and various frequencies to produce positive physiological cell changes and support the organism in its healing process. In equine therapy, low level lasers are used for wound healing, tissue regeneration, inhibiting inflammation and for soothing pain.
Laser light of a defined wavelength stimulates the physiological processes at the cell level. Cells communicate with each other via the same light impulses and pass on vital information. Increased strength at cell level results in the revitalization and reactivation of the body’s own healing processes.
The simplest use of the laser is for localized treatment of body areas. Point directed low-energy lasers can be used like acupuncture needles. |
